A Lecture for students of Primary School no. 1 in Biała Podlaska
04.01.2025 students from science club LEOO prepared and conducted a lecture about ,,International Space Station ISS” for the younger students attending Primary School no. 1 in Biała Podlaska. The lecture took place twice on the same day: firstly for classes 6-8 and then for classes 3-5.
The kids had the opportunity to learn about ISS, space and astronaut’s life on the space station.
Young scientists talked about their meeting with the crew of Axiom 4 that consists of members:
● Peggy Whitson, Commander
● Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, mission specialist
● Shubhanshu Shukla, pilot
● Tibor Kapu, mission specialist
They shared the information about their trainings and how they get ready for the mission.
During the lecture LEOO showed their audience experiments such as: Magnus effect, how does Newton’s Cradle and chain fountain work, they also tested students teamwork skills by giving them a task of drawing a rocket ship in teams of 4 while holding a marker by strings attached to it.
In the end there was ,,an astronaut test” which everybody passed with flying colors. Everyone really enjoyed the lecture and all the experiments, we hope we managed to fascinate the participants with space and science. We also got a lot of requests for future lectures which prove our great success. For students who are a part of LEOO it was an opportunity for learning public speaking and presenting knowledge.
All of this was overseen by Renata Michalczuk – the supervisor of LEOO
