On January 21st 2025 in Polish Parliament scientific conference “Z gory widać więcej – satelitarny monitoring Ziemi” was organised by Sekcja Teledetekcji Komitetu Badań Satelitarnych Centrum Badań Kosmicznych in Polish Academy of Science.

Besides Polish scientists, politicians, local government and  members of the Local Earth Observation Observatory took part in the event.

They had the opportunity to listen to many interesting lectures about:

  • Using satellite imagery as a tool in monitoring, in public administration
  • Narodowy System Informacji Satelitarnej (National Satellite Information System)
  • Land cover – basic information on the Earth’s surface
  • Light pollution in Poland
  • Illegal mining

Our speech was about LEOO, an initiative that is to be created as the first one in Secondary School no 2. by the name of Emilia Plater in Biała Podlaska. At the conference, we could present our work and convince others of how important it is to have something like that in places like Biała Podlaska.

With us there was towns’ mayor– Michał Litwiniuk, Head of Department of Education – Stanisław Romanowski, press spokeswoman Gabriela Kuc-Stefaniuk and headmaster of Secondary School no. 2 by the name of Emilia Plater in Biała Podlaska  – Przemysław Olesiejuk.

We are grateful for allowing us to take part in such an important event, and we hope that new connections and invitations to collaboration will let us go further and be part of more national and international projects.
