Classes in the Geography and Regional Studies Department at the University of Warsaw

On Tuesday, 10th June, members of LEOO took part in classes in the Geography and Regional Studies Department at the University of Warsaw. The classes were conducted by Dr Anna Jarocińska, Dr Marlena Kycko and Dr Adrian Ochtyra.

The subjects of lectures were:
● Introduction to  remote sensing
● QGIS opening data and indicators
● Polygons and classification

Students could work with satellite pictures and learn how to recognise different types of landforms and the consequences of the climate change. The workshop  was engaging. Members actively participated in data analysis and asked many questions about the practical usage of remote sensing in science.

It was a great opportunity to get to know the academic world, develop hobbies and earn knowledge that goes beyond the school’s  curriculum.

We thank especially our lecturers, Prof. Bogdan Zagajewski and carers for our science club: Renata Michalczuk and Prof. Stanisław Lewiński, for organising the trip.
