LEOO SCIENCE GROUP ON EUROPEAN ROVER CHALLENGE

Last weekend of August the LEOO science group had the opportunity to visit Kraków, which for few days, turned into a capital of space robotics.

The 11th edition of the European Rover Challenge event  a prestigious international planetary robotics competition  took place at the SGH University . It was a good chance to discover the science world of interactive exhibitions and educational workshops accompanying the event. During the ERC, students were able to talk with leading experts in the space sector and scientists. There was also time to participate in conferences and debates. One of the lectures entitled “The Trajectory of Tomorrow: where science and space intersect with Polish innovation” was presented by member of LEOO group – Błażej Sterniczuk.

Błażej is a 4th(sernior) year secondary school student in a mathematical and physical class profile. In addition to studying, he actively spends his time  In his spare time, he enjoys reading popular science books (mainly about physics). After school, Błażej is planning to continue studying at Military University of Technology in Warsaw, choosing faculties of aviation and aerospace. The choice will enable him to develop his passion and acquire the knowledge necessary for work in areas of the space industry and future technology. Moreover,  he is a  scholarship holder of the Major Władysław Sobola Polish Army Foundation.

Błażej’s subject supervisor is Renata Michalczuk, a physics teacher at Secondary School No2 in Biała Podlaska, who also gave a presentation during the educational part of the conference.

Taking part in ERC was for Platerka students a chance to develop their passions and deepen their knowledge. Itis another and we hope not the last event with international standing, in which our young people will be able to participate.
