The Outstanding success of LEOO science club in international contest VeneToStars 2026
Between 10th and 14th of May 2026, the representatives of LEOO science club from the Secondary School No.2 by the name of Emilia Plater in Biała Podlaska Martyna Michałowska, Michał Bednarek and Jakub Kordaczuk with their chaperon Mrs. Renata Michalczuk took part in the final of the international competition VeneToStars 2026 which was held in Venice, Italy.
Around 100 participants from Europe and other parts of the world took part in the competition, including representatives of Japan, China, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. This year’s edition was dedicated to the AgriFood theme and was focused on use of space data and digital technologies in the development of modern agriculture and food systems.
Only 10 best teams qualified to the grand final, including the LEOO team. Representatives Secondary School No.2 by the name of Emilia Plater in Biała Podlaska a great success by scoring 5th place.
The stay in Italy was for the participants not only an opportunity for competition, but also to gain knowledge and valuable experience. Finalists took part in classes led by researchers from the University of Padua and had the possibility of meeting the first Italian astronaut Franco Malerba. They also met Laura Borella who works as a Work Packages Manager in ESA Academy Experiments program, where she coordinates educational activities linked to the space sector. She also provides career and development consulting for young people interested in science and space technologies.
It was also an inspirational time for talks, exchanging experiences and meeting young innovators from various countries across the world.
Participation in the VeneToStars 2026 competition became an incredibly valuable experience for members of the LEOO Science Club which allowed them to develop their interests related to modern technologies, science and the space sector.
