Meeting with Axiom-4 team
On 05.02.2025 students Martyna Michałowska and Hanna Mikitiuk, members of science group LEOO and Renata Michalczuk – physics teacher, had the pleasure to meet and talk with the team of Ax-4 mission, which took place in conference hall of the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw.
The meeting was attended by three astronauts taking part in the mission to the International Space Station, which was organized by Axiom Space Company: commanding the Ax4 mission Peggy Whitson, NASA astronaut from USA, specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski from Poland, Tibor Kapu from Hungary and Shubhanshu Shukla from India who became the pilot, but unfortunately, he was absent at the meeting.
If everything goes according to plan, four astronauts should go into space this year in spring from Canaveral cape in Florida, aboard the Crew Dragon capsule built by SpaceX.
The team of the Axiom-4 mission will conduct research in microgravity conditions on topics such as astronauts’ health, the microbiome, new materials and technology as well as the use of artificial intelligence while being on the mission for fourteen days. Members of the mission would also engage in education activities.
During the conference the astronauts were talking about their training and flight preparation. They answered questions about the mission and presented some educational experiences that soon will be conducted on the ISS. There was also a presentation about elements of astronaut training and ice-breaker activities, they stressed the importance of awakening the passion for Space among young people, who represent the future of the entire Space sector.
The meeting was very inspiring and made huge impression on us.
